Surgery and Gain

I had surgery yesterday morning and stayed under my 1600 calorie goal the remainder of the day.

This morning I had a gain of TWO POUNDS!?!?!?!

I was under general and had an IV running pain meds, but no other fluids as far as I know.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the hell this gain is attributed to? It just does NOT seem right.

I don't have any answers but I really would not be worrying about a measly 2lb gain. could be fluids for sure. just stick to ur healthy diet and drink plenty of water then get back into ur exercise routine when ur dr. gives u the clear.

IV drips, in many cases, make you gain weight. Don't worry too much about it, you don't gain 2 lbs of real weight unless you actually eat 2 lbs of food.
  • The IV drips cause you to hold water weight. Drink plenty of water and all will be fine.

Usually when you have an IV of fluids you will gain weight. It's probably water and will clear out in a couple of days. Focus on your recovery.
