Liquid intake

Hey guys,

Im just wondering what you all think the right amount of liquid intake is?

I drink 2.5lts of water, 2 coffees (no sugar) & 4/5 hot water with lemon a day, I also have soup 2 or 3x a week too.
Is this too much as a few people at my work place have said im drinking too much & it does nothing for weight loss.
Ive always been encourage to cut caffine & drink plenty of water & mfp tells us to drink 8 glasses also. :ohwell:

I know this might seem a silly thing to ask but just wanted a few people opinions on this.

I was also told that we should drink room temperature water not ice cold/straight from the fridge water as the ice will shock the body & seize up but at room temp it helps with fat burning..is there any truth to this does anyone know?

Thanks in advance.

It's probably a bit more than is necessary - but I doubt that it is enough to cause problems.
If you want to know more, google "water intoxication" and you can read about what happens when you drink too much water/liquid.
I treat the "8 glasses" guideline as just that - a guide, not a hard and fast rule for everyone.

I don't think that is too much. As for the water intoxication it will take A LOT of water to do that. Don't know if you heard but a few years ago a radio station did a competition and it was who ever could drink a gallon of water per hour for the longest amount of time would win a prize. What ended up happening was a person died from water intoxication. so 2.5lts per day versus 1gal per hour I think your safe. However I'm sure you find you prolly have to pee alot. Also it's good too drink a lot of fluids especially if your eating a lot of fiber. As for the room temp. versus cold water I have no idea. I would like to know this as well.

I drink between 3 and 8 liters of water a day... depending on many factors (drank about 9 liters a day for four days in a row when we were out biking 140 miles in 80+ weather... filled my platypus so many times!!!)

I have heard the thing about not drinking ice water.... but honestly our water SUCKS and I can't stand it cold...

I don't think it actually matters... I have also heard that drinking iced water burns calories as your body has to work to raise the temp of the water so that you don't radicaly alter your core temp

    Hi guys, thanks for responding.

I did as rubybelle suggested & googled a few sites on there..doesnt really say much about how much is enough but it did say that cold water is better for fat burning.

I spoke to a pal of mine about it and her personal trainer told her body temp water is the best so im not sure..i did see a page that argued both sides but then it said drinking cold water makes the body work harder to warm it up hense the fat burn maybe.

As far as I can tell from what I've read on it, and what my nutritionist said, the water temp makes zero difference. It won't speed up your metabolism. People just like to THINK it will, and since it sounds plausible, it gets passed on.

I enjoy around 64 oz a day. That is truly where I feel the best :)
