Waterslides

So the other day I spent about 7 hours at the waterslides with my kids. It's the first time in about 15 years that I've been able to go on the waterslides and not worry about how big I was. I was a little worried because I have alot of skin from my wieght loss, but my kids were great and helped me to have such a good time. I was racing my 15 year old son up and down the slides all day.

Here is my question for everyone:

How many calories should I log for that? I entered it in as 60 minutes of moderate walking, since I wasn't walking the entire time. It calculated it as 600 calories. I was so exhausted at the end of the day, it felt like way more. I was just curious what other people did this summer?

I always guess on those really active days. Love water parks. Wouldn't have a clue how to log it, and I wouldn't care  Sometimes fun is just . . . fun.

I did the waterpark thing a while back although I wasnt nearly as active as you. I didnt know how to log it so I didnt. But I think you are right that 600 seems low especially if youre doing stairs.

If you were there an hour, do something like log 20 minutes jogging up stairs (this is an exercise), 20 minutes of walking, and 20 minutes of nothing (sitting on slide, standing in line etc). Adjust this for how much you think you actually did. This is what I did when I went swimming with my little sister at a pool with a slide. Stairs, swimming, and some nothing. I felt like the calories were representative..

I was doing pretty much the same thing, 7 hour death march at the water-park in Roseville. I tagged it as 140 minutes of walking, came out to about 500 kcals. Sounds okay, maybe low (constant walking up stairs/ramps, all over the friggin' park and hauling up quad rafts, most likely burns more but let's not get greedy). Not much to eat at these parks if you're avoiding fried foods, so there's that too.

Of course, the interesting and NSV aspect of being at a water park is that you feel positively svelte in comparison to 90% of the population at the place (including, sadly, the children and teens).
