Weight Loss Rewards

I'm considering a rewards system wherein I buy myself one (non-food) treat every time I've lost 10 lbs. I'm 2 lbs away from earning my first reward.
Has anyone tried this? Has it helped you stay motivated?

I haven't for weight loss but I am about to start. I have with many other parts of my life and it has helped tremendously! I have always worked best by setting goals for myself and then rewarding myself when I get there. I like using going to the movies, getting a new book or game, or my current idea...a new pair of shoes :-)0

I do that to! Within 4 months (not sure without looking back if it's 3 1/2 or 4 so we'll go with 4) I've lost 36 lbs and am getting close to my next 10 lb mini goal. For these xtra mini rewards I get something small... like frozen yogurt at the ice cream shop or I indulge in some extra 'me' time. (Half the time my 'me' time is spent goofing off with the girls I nanny for.)
Though I also have bigger rewards in place for reaching my goal, my halfway goal, and getting out of the 200's! The little goals I'm finding help me to keep my eye on the ball and before I know it I'm close to a bigger goal!
I also have a pair of pants that I want to get into hanging where I can see it everyday as motivation!0 -
I want the shoes in my profile pic! Louboutins.0

I used to get sodas from the gas station a couple times a day, spending a couple bucks extra that I didn't need to. Then maybe going to McDonald's and buying my dinner there.
Instead of doing that I'm saving that money, and will be using it on christmas presents this year! It's just about $20 a week, but feels good to know that not going out will have two tremendous rewards (having spare cash and a smaller waist line)
Love the idea of getting yourself a tangible non-food thing for goal weights! Brilliant!0 -
Good idea! I'll try this with every 3 pounds I lost! It's so hard to get rid off the last 10 lbs!
My reward will be dresses0 -
I reward myself with clothes. I have so many pairs of shoes and handbags from years of being to fat to buy anything but shoes and handbags that now, when I reach a goal and need a new pair of pants, pants it is.0

My hubby rewards me occasionally, he gets me things that will help with the bigger picture, like a new workout video, or my next big reward (once i get out of the 300's he is getting me a heavy punching bag and kickboxing training gear). It feels nice to know someone appreciates what I'm doing for myself. And knowing that I have these rewards to look forward to does give me quite a bit of motivation to keep pushing.0

The idea of rewarding myself is... if you think about it... a real logical think.
I just got started, but I think to keep me motivated throughout my journey this is a great thing.
So for every 3 times I have been at the gym and do my 60 Min Cardio I tread myselfe to sauna time, which means some extra sewat, but hey it will be winter soon and I absolutly love it (plus it is at the gym, so I have to go there and cannot cheat on the workout )
And for every 10 lbs that go down... hmm, what could I do?
maybe some beauty treatment or at least one clothing item!
And when I get my goal, I will take a pic with the man of chippendales and hope to look as hot as them!0
