I'm going to run again

So, life sucked for awhile, and that's when I ran my best. Then, life got better, and I stopped running. I totally lost my motivation. I'm sick of it now and know I'll feel better once I start running again. It's been....six months.
Yes. Six months.
I didn't gain weight or anything in this time. But what used to be more toned muscle...is not. I used to be so proud of myself everyday. I was running 6 miles every day, Monday - Friday.
I have to start small, start small, and build myself up again. But I really want to do this. Thursday is a weird day to start, but I'm going to. No better time than now, right?
I think I'll start a journal. I know myself and know I won't run outside. I do not enjoy running in the cold. But I'm going to start taking advantage of the free gym available at work. Again.
That is all. Any motivation tips from those of you who have done really well for yourself, stopped, and gotten back into it are greatly appreciated!

Hi Corin, just want to say Thursday is a great day to start! You're right to start out small and build back up. You might be surprised at how fast it can happen. While I don't love running on the treadmill it is way better than running in the cold or the more than a foot of snow we got today. Glad to see you around!
Happy Running!0 -
Thanks Keiko! I'm really excited. I know not to expect much at first. It's been so long. But I'm reading old issues of Runner's World mag and skimming through some books I have...I am really excited to start up again!
The only reason Thursday isn't so great is because I don't run on the weekends. I just know I won't. We have Kylie this weekend, and I just know I won't do it. I know myself and know I won't run if I don't do it during the workday because once I'm home...I'm home.
Then again...I'm ready. Two weeks till Christmas gives me time to get back into it before the holiday and before all the New Year's Resolutions. I didn't fulfill last year's resolution, but I'm not upset about that because I had some unexpected happiness thrown my way. It was worth the six months off.
But I'm ready to run again.
Or at least...start running again.0 -
Just do it! Thursday is a GREAT day to start. You can do tomorrow & Friday and then you'll be set for the weekend. I have been off my exercise game for the last 3 years or so, to be honest. Been working on getting back into it the last 3 months or so. Running is really not for me anymore, hard on the knees and feet. But the elliptical and power yoga are the way to go! I have missed yoga for the last 3 weeks and have to go back tonight. Little intimidated as I lose it FAST now that I'm older. But, it does come back faster than one would think once you get back into it. Happy running, you go girl.0

Hi Corin,
Life happens, everybody has stopped and started many times. Running is therapy for me, I run better when my mind wanders. Time seems to fly by.(so much for focus:laugh: ) Today is Thursday. I hope you brought your running gear. Have a great run.0 -
Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I have to wait until I get home today b/c there's no one in the front office except me - and I have to keep the phones covered.
Good thing we didn't give the treadmill back to the ex yet. :happy:0 -
you can do it. the weekend will give your body a needed rest.
i had started running and than life happened and i stopped. i am now doing walk/jog to get back. i just finished a short jog and want more. but, i have roofers coming any time now, and i really wanted a shower before they get here.
i am just a beginner runner. i was doing a mile in 16 mins. that was my first mile ever ran. so hope to run that long again soon and build from there.
good luck.0
