A healthy lunchbox for work?

Has anyone got good lunchbox ideas for work? Back working in a nursery with 3-5 year olds in my room 8am-6pm tomorrow after such a long 6 weeks break, when i had time to prepare food and eat when it suited me.

I don't want to end up starving but don't want it to be too stodgy. Had hummus and different veggie dips today but will need something more substantial. All ideas welcome, but I do not like tomato or orange. Thanks =)

Have a google for bento box - lots of great ideas of how to put together attractive lunch combinations.

Make sure you get some protein - slice of ham, chicken breast, tin of tuna, hard boiled egg, cheese.

As much vegetable as you can handle - spinach leaf salad, cucumbers, peppers, celery

I like to add in a little of something fancy - marinated artichokes or mushrooms, black olives, capers.

Some carbs if that fits in your macros - rice, bread, wrap, couscous

    Piece of fruit.

Thanks for the tips, haven't had a change to go shopping yet so I had to make do today with pasta salad and a banana, Then got some oaty crackers and light philadephia for my snack about 4pm. Deffo going to buy some tuna to put in the pasta or lean meat! Thanks =)
  • I Aldo take my lunch at work. And fortunatelly all the people in my office does. So we bought a fridge and a microwave. And just bring anything we want. And the rule is simple everyone brings his own and we eat together and no work talking during the lunch break. So starting from salads, pasta, lasagna, more or less like home. The bei advantage also is Ti have nicer co-workers and a better team.

A usually bring a combination of:

Whole wheat bread with some lean meat or low fat cheese with some leafy greens and some cucumber. Either butter or mustard, instead of mayo.

Greek or soy yogurt in one of those plastic cups with a lid (that toddlers usually have), with some honey.

Cold soup (gazpacho, cucumber soup etc.) or if I can heat it up some warm soup.

A big pasta salad with lots of greens, other raw veg, whole wheat pasta and some tuna or chicken. Bring dressing in a separate little container, to prevent the salad going soggy.

For snacks I bring some nuts, at least two pieces of fruit, a small piece of cheese and/or a small piece of dark chocolate.

I always like to have my lunches as simple as possible, so I don't have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen in the mornings.
These are the things that you can get done quite quickly and without a lot of different ingredients.

I love having a homemade veggie burger either with salad (usually baby spinach as the green and whatever veg I have) or in a wholemeal pitta bread, with a homemade spicy onion relish (it would be good with hummus too).

Quinoa or wholewheat pasta based salads are great too. They go with whatever you like (I'm eating plant based at the moment so for me it would most likely be fresh or roasted veg, maybe tofu).

Multiseed crackers or rye crispbread are a good addition to having hummus and veggies.

I often bring leftovers from the night before.

I usually bring healthy snacks too, like a yoghurt (or non-dairy version), nuts (but measure carefully as they're high in calories), fruit, a fruit bar (with no added sugar or chemicals - mine are Nakd branded) or carrot batons.
