Road Bicycle Help

I have a birthday coming up and I really want to trade my hybrid bike for a road bike, but they are so expensive. Anybody have a good suggestion on a good quality road bike that is less than a grand? I currently own a Specialized Expedition. I have put probably 2000 miles on it without a single repair. I am 6'4" and require a 58cm frame height. Specialized road bikes are expensive.
