Humbled today by the wife!

So my wife has been persistently doing "Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred" for about 2 weeks. I have been trying to support her and so during her workout time, I make sure she's not interrupted by our DD (16 mos.). She's lost 5+ lbs. so far, and I'm really proud of her.

Now, I've caught glimpses of this video here and there, and it looked like it was fairly easy to do, after all, jumping jacks and punches seem pretty simple. So while I applauded my wife's success, I didn't think this workout was really the caliber I needed for my workout routine, after all, I'm a macho, macho, man! (Sarcasm.)

Well, today, while the little one was down, she asked me if I wanted to try Level 1 WITH her. I chuckled. I felt a little silly working out to a women's exercise DVD, but hey, I love making my wife happy. So I obliged.

Wow.

This workout kicked my butt. I couldn't catch a breath for the whole 20 minutes. I felt like I was going to pass out afterwards. My whole body was like, "WTF did you just do to me!?" With a big smile on my face, I was ready to admit I really under-estimated my wife's fitness program, and I gained much respect for her, as well as Ms. Jillian Michaels.

So I haven't decided if I am going to join her in the 30-Day Shred just yet, but in the meantime, I now know why my wife is seeing results. Kudos, babe! I love you and I can't wait to see our love grow as our bodies shrink!!!

Thanks, Jillian Michaels. You suck.

Bless you for supporting your wife. That support and encouragment is truly priceless.

I had to laugh when you said that you felt 'silly' doing a 'woman's workout video'. I have heard similar commets about Curves being a "Woman's Gym" and not a real workout. Well, so far it seems to be working pretty well for me.

:flowerforyou: Congratulations to your wife on her loss.

Is RockandRoll your wife? I'm on a shred thread she's in... congrats for giving it a try and giving her props for pushing through it. It's harder than it looks!

The first time I saw that dvd I thought the same thing. That it was no big deal and would be simple.
    Wrong.

Though one would think that just by doing one level of the 30 Day Shred would be challenging enough
I wanted to push myself farther. I did her other dvd "Banish Fat Boost Metabolism" and let me tell you
that you're going to lay on the floor for a couple of minutes after you're done with that one.

It really is good that you're supporting your wife. It means so much to have someone to help and encourage you to succeed. My boyfriend tries, but he works for the EMC around here and has to climb trees all day, needless to say he gets about all the workout he needs in every day and usually can't work out with me. I wouldn't want to either after having to climb, trim, and but down tress all day long!! But saying that, he's in great shape. One day I talked him into doing the Shred with me, and he was sweating and breathing really hard right off!! He told me that he didn't realize my workouts were that hard. (Never mentioned thinking it before... I guess he just thought I was sweatin like crazy doing some "easy" DVD.. haha)

Yay for you too! It's great to have such an understanding support system in the home!!! And yes, Jillian does suck. I wish I was able to suck as much as her....lol!
