In a MAJOR rut for my last 10lbs

I am in a huge rut and do not know how to break through it. After consistently being 145-150lbs for years I fought hard and made it to 132lbs where I have been stuck for a year now. Every once in a while I weigh in 128lbs but then the next day I go right back up to 131lbs. Without being hungry or tired I can not cut my calories down any more (consistently), and to work out more I would have to sacrifice family time. I know I have at least a good 10lbs just sitting on me... have I hit my limit without a complete lifestyle change involving major workouts and cutting out cabs or sugar? I am a 5'4" 27 year old female eating on average about 1200-1350 calories per day and consistently walking 20-60 minutes per day with mixed in weights and various physical activities.
(Note that if you looks at my food diary the last 4 days were an extreme exception due to the holiday and friends reunion)
Any ideas would be REALLY appreciated!!! Thanks

If I were you, I'd up my calories. I'm 18, 5'5", and 150 pounds. I have to eat at LEAST 1500 calories. 1200 is such a low number. Is that what your BMR is? Always eat what your BMR is. You can also try cycling, or counting carbs, instead, but it's not "healthy", because you cut out things like fruit, whole grains, potatoes, etc. Also, your body could be too used to just walking. I'd definitely suggest some heavy lifting. The last pounds are always the hardest to lose. They're just "vanity pounds". I'm in the same situation.0

I agree, you aren't eating enough and you are getting too many of your calories from processed carbs. Add in more fruits and veggies and more meat and/or dairy. I'm 5'3" and 112, down from 150 a year and a half ago, and I didn't let my average calories get under 1650. I agree that cycling is great or even just walking faster--doesn't take any more time away from family and you can burn more. I only workout 45 mins. per day on weekdays, but I walk fast everywhere I go and even on lazy days burn 2200+ calories. Your body is in a rut because it's doing the same thing. Shake it up!0

Here are some of the things that have helped me break a plateau:
1) I would do some intervals while you are walking. Jog for 30 sec. then walk for 30 sec. I would also add some lunges, squats, etc.. to your walks. Your body is getting use to your routine and you really need to change it up.
2) I would zig zag your calories. This has helped me the most. Eat your BMR calories for 3 days per week, then eat your BMR minus 500 calories the other 3 days of the week (do not go under 1200). Pick one day per week as your "free day" and enjoy what you have deprived yourself of. It is basically called the Spike Diet & there is a group that can explain it better.
Good luck, change it up, your body is bored & needs a new routine!0 -
Thank you all, I have looked into my BMR and have adjusted my daily calorie goal to that new number which is 1330 and i will eat more depending on my workouts, its scary that I may have been putting my body into "starvation mode" all this time.. luckily it was only a couple times a week that i was able to achieve 1200 calories. as far as the food i eat, other then recently with everyone in town i am very routine with a well rounded fresh ingredients diet but i need to work on getting more fruit for sure and less beer, i really appreciate your recommendations.
i am still stumped on my workouts, i do not live where i can bike and can not run without getting sick, so frustrating!! i need to do some serious brainstorming for new ideas of how i can get my body moving in a non-routine way to spice it up. i am trying to do stairs more but feel silly at my office complex going up and down them excessively haha but NEVER take elevators or escalators anymore when i can walk stairs. i will look into adjusting my weights and adding in lunges, jumping jacks, that sort of thing that i keep forgetting to do. i have a morning and afternoon 10 minute break at work and was wondering if anyone has ideas on 10 minute workout routines that i can do that wont cause me to come back to work really sweaty? so far i have a 10 min 3lb weight routine i do 3 times a week.
well i am off for my lunch time walk speeding it up!!!!!0
