Is anyone taking the drug Aciphex? I'm taking it because I have a hiatal hernia and GERD symptoms. I took it a few years ago, it worked amazingly, but when I stopped having symptoms I stopped taking it. My symptoms are back and I started it again last week, but I've been having some weird side effects, lol. I was just wondering if anyone was taking it here that I could talk to. :flowerforyou:

My GERD disappeared when I lost my weight. Maybe your will too! Let's hope so!
  • I was taking Aciphex for same problem for about 7 years but recently they put me on Nexium. Don't really aware of having any side effects though.
  • Aciphex actually made me sick at my stomach and really tired. I was taking it for the same reasons you are but when I lost weight and stopped eating red meat mine went away. Good Luck

:flowerforyou: Thanks guys!! I am SO glad to hear that your problems are going away with weight loss. I am hoping mine will because I know extra weight around the belly relaxes the valve that keeps acid down where it should be! Yet another thing to look forward to - hopefully!!

I'm heading out for the night, but I'll go ahead and list my side effects just in case someone else stops in the thread and can relate. I have been taking Aciphex for 1 day shy of 2 weeks. When I have had heartburn in the past, I get the feeling of a lump stuck in my throat and pain just below my chest all the way around to my back. On Aciphex, I have had a constant "lump in my throat" feeling and pain ALL DAY LONG today. Blah! No heartburn, though. Last week I had issues with eating crumbly foods - I had some croutons on a salad and the crumbs got stuck in my throat (or felt like they did) and irritated the heck out of me to the point where I felt like I was choking and I had to stop eating. I think that had something to do with the "lump in my throat" actually being swelling. I've also had severe restless leg the past few nights.

I've taken the drug before and loved it, so not sure what's going on this time around. I take 20mg daily, but after the pain today ... I'm going to stop it for at least the weekend and see how things improve.
