I realize a lot of people are going to get defensive here...but it must be said.

At my gym, there's a large sign over by the circuit that says that area is for circuit training only...and that if you are not following the rules which are clearly posted in large print...your membership may be subject to termination.

I get on the circuit (following the directions-pretty straightforward...go in order and go along with the timer. In other words, don't come in to use one machine...and park yourself there for 10-15 minutes.

*disclaimer* I do realize that there are one or two machines in the circuit that are not on the floor with the other machines...and that must be annoying for individuals wishing ot use that machine. On the other hand, the machine is in the circuit area...if you want to use it, do the whole circuit...or come in and use that machine for just one interval and move on...

SO many times I've been doing the circuit and someone comes in and parks themselves at that machine...I continue going in order...eventually get to that machine and these individuals are still sitting there.

Just plain rude. You can agree or disagree, it's my opinion...does anyone else share this frustration?

I don't because I use barbells. If for some odd reason I did want to use a pulley machine, then I should be able to use it in a normal fashion if I like (i.e. 2-4 straight sets with rest periods in between) If someone else would like to use it also they could act like a normal civilized person and ask if they can rotate in with me during my rest periods to which I would reply "sure thing." Your gym have a lunk alarm to?

I 100% agree. People are rude period. It's ashame but a lot of people have this "I can do what I want" mentality that they act like no one else exists in this world but them.

I went to a kid concert for my kid this Sunday, to see Victorious Justice at the Great Allentown Fair. Let me say that parents are very very rude! They were standing up and blocking the view of the kids who came to see the concert. My girlfriend and I are not rude and although the people in front of us were standing, we didn't want to do the same thing to the people behind us.

If I was to use that particular machine that you speak of, I would have the common courtesy (guess it's not so common no more) to move for the 2 minutes for you to use your machine, and if a whole group is using the circuit area, well, I guess I am out of luck.

I am with you on this!

Well put. My husband says the same thing and I totally understand-there are machines that they don't have on the floor. That's fine...just use the machine for one circuit-move and come back to it later. I've even asked people to move before and they were rude about it...

And the concert-wow...that is rude. It's a KID'S concert...how rude for those adults to stand up-poor kids :(

We do have a lunk alarm, but the way the gym is set up it's at the front and the circuit is way at the back. My goal is to get my heart rate and sweat up and keep going...I mean...if I leave, I'll miss the next machine/stair stepper. I like to just get it over with :(

Even if your gym is a PF, (I used to go to a PF), the staff walk potential new members around the gym and explain the gym. So no matter what, You are still right, and that/those people are too damn ignorant to be polite and have common sense.

If this is a regular issue at your gym, you really need to report it to the staff. Point out the exact machines that cause the problem regularly. Perhaps they can get one of those for the floor so the issue doesn't come up again. If not, at least they can perhaps at least walk the floor regularly to see if any issues are coming up.

I had actually thought about that-with a few exceptions, it usually is these two machines that people come back to use...sometimes there is someone there that just will use whatever machines they want, hop around...skip the stair stepper (a common occurence)...I feel like people don't understand how the circuit is meant to work. The stair stepper keeps your heart rate up while you do the circuit...you skip it and you're kinda missing the point.
