Thanks for Noticing!

I have lost 25 lbs since I started focusing on getting healthy. I exercise every day and I watch what I eat. I still have a long way to go but people are really noticing the difference. Pretty much everyone has noticed but my bf... At least he doesn't say anything about it.
I don't like fishing for compliments, but I told him I had lost 25 lbs so far and his reply was, 'I thought you looked like you had lost a little weight.'....that's all. He sees how hard I'm working and that is the sum of his encouragement. He doesn't discourage me, and will happily eat roasted veggies with quinoa without complaint. But, no...'lookin' good' or 'way to go!'. Not even a 'good job'. :grumble:
'
I am not losing weight for him, or anyone else but myself. And, my motivation is at an all time high right now. NOTHING is going to stop me from losing weight and being healthy again. I'm just glad I have my MFP friends to encourage me and my real life friends there to tell me how great I am looking. Cause I'm not going to get any of that at home. :frown:

There was a thread a few months ago with people complaining about getting compliments on body parts. They got upset when someone said you look great your____________ looks so much smaller.
I couldn't believe how sensitive and stupid people could be! Im the type of person that when someone looks good I give a compliment and will be specific. So maybe he is affraid you will hold it against him, especially if you gain the weight back.0 -
I Love my hubby to death but I learned early on in our relationship that he does NOT know how to give a compliment. His parents never complimented him or one another and it doesn't come naturally to him. He's a good guy and he supports me in other ways (waiting patiently while I check the ingredients in every food before I buy it when we go grocery shopping). If he is generally good to you, my advice is don't sweat the compliments. Take him for what he is and appreciate his other good atributes.0

I read a thread yesterday where a woman complained because her mother in law OVER complimented her. Can you believe it? Complained about it!0 -
Reneelee, I can't believe people would be upset at a real compliment. I know I wouldn't be! I may not like a backhanded compliment like, 'You aren't looking as fat and ugly today as you usually do.' but how hard is it for the man who loves me to throw me a bone?0

I think you just hit the nail on the head. He truly is a good guy, but he was never overly demonstrative or complimentary even before I gained so much weight. Even without the compliments he's a keeper.0 -
My husband rarely says anything either, but then I realized that I think it is his way of loving me no matter what my size.
Since he never said anything as the scale went up!0 -
My husband won't compliment me to save his life. I have to do some serious fishing for compliments. At least I get them from other people, just not him.0

I have a great husband and he is very wise.....lol. He has watched me for 20 years yo-yo diet and will go along with any eating plan with a smile on his face and does notice when I lose but he is also smart enough not to make a big deal over the hiccups I've had over the years. He realizes how serious I am right now and is starting to realize that at our ages we need to be in better shape. All in all though I guess I always have thought if I'm happy with how I look and feel that was enough for me. Not saying that compliments aren't nice because they are I just don't let it stop or derail me. To all of the MFP'ers glad to celebrate your successes and am there when you need the motivation.0

That was me, and I do not appreciate that at all. My self-consciousness is not cause for you to bash me. This is supposed to be a place of encouragement and support, no matter what the reasoning is. It made me uncomfortable, sorry if that isn't what you consider "normal".0
