Because it would be a PITA to log into your MFP?
We had a coworker bring cookies...and I was about to eat one, but then realized what a massive PITA it would be to log.
Eff that nonsense...

Buahahaha... when some of my co-workers joined MFP we had that discussion... myself, I don't care if it's a PITA... mostly, because I eat it and then go "oh crap!" I need to log that in... I just entered in a whole recipe yesterday for some cookies I had made... just so I knew how many calories were in it... I like to bake and thusly like to eat... so I would like to be able to eat my "creations" in moderation.0

I estimate...but then I am lazy.0

There is some recent qualitative research about food diaries limiting people's consumption in this way.0

I'm lazy... I look for something in the database that seems like it would be really close... and then over-estimate the serving size to make up for the "unknown"0

Alot of my meals are PITA's to log in because to get accurate calories I use the RECIPE tool. But it's better than doing fast food where the calories are already logged in the system0

all the time. LOL0

I do that for when I go to Resturants that do not have nutritional info posted anywhere (be that the web or in the establishment).0 -
PITA??? what does that mean?0

LOL I stop myself all the time because TOO MANY CALORIES. The bottom line is we can't eat whatever we want all the time, not even me now maintaining for a year. I love a book by Bethany Frankel called "Naturally Thin", my favorite quote from it "You can eat everything you want but just not all at once.", or something like that. The book is chalk full of awesome quotes about food and learning to not pig out and balance everything out. I love the Anything Goes Diet for the same reasons. Both awesome books.0

Will someone please define a "PITA"?0

PITA??? what does that mean?
Pain in the *kitten*0 -
It actually keeps me from eating out so much. I always know that I can never accurately estimate my meals. I'm not a huge fan of most chain restaurants so the stuff isn't always in the database. On the flip side, I guess it has caused me to opt for chain places a little more than I used to because I know the calorie intake would be there. I was recently delighted to find out that kroger sushi (generic AFC) is in the database...yeah!0

I second this ^^^ I don't know what I'd do without the recipe tool, it really does help me. But back to the OP-I definitely have a different outlook now on things that co-workers bring in, if there's no calories on them (being home made or like the stuff brought in today from France) I won't eat it. I'd rather know exactly what I'm logging than trying to guess-don't get me wrong, I've done that before but I'd rather know for sure if possible0 -
Being a fat pig trumps being a lazy pig, for me. So i eat everything and then log, and then cry.0
-
I'm on MFP all day at work so a situation like the OP's usually doesn't stop me, especially from eating cookies! nom nom nom
On the weekend however, I log into the website from my phone and it can be a real PITA I've been known to pass up goodies at BBQs or parties for this very reason.0 -
I go to the place that I eat the salad I had for lunch quite often, and I actually told them I track everything and asked for how much of everything went into it.
They only charge 2.00 for an extra 6 oz. of chicken breast too...basically my salad is chicken based with a little spring mix.0 -
I say "no" to everything that I dont know what is inside. Since I have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, it's become easier to reject crap.0
-
Quite often actually. It's why I hesitate to try new recipes.0
