Dietary Help

I've been in a Biggest Loser Competition at work for a little over a month now and I'm down about 8% body weight. Roughly about 20lbs. I track my diet religiously now, but I can't seem to meet my caloric goals. I Have been doing insanity for a little over 2 weeks, but I'm not seeing much result as far as weight loss. I eat every 2-3 hours and I'm eating healthy foods/portions. I'm just not sure what else to add to my diet and what i seem to be doing wrong.

Honestly - you aren't eating healthy portions for your calorie goal one day you ate 879 cals!!! - TWO egg whites for breakfast and then later for dinner is not a healthy portion! You also aren't fully tracking on the site at least - no data for sat/sun/mon.
You need to split your cals into however many meals you want a day - so say 2000 cals, 5 meal = 400 cals a meal.
Have some toast with your eggs in the morning - have a whole egg - the yolk won't kill you. Eat some pasta with your chicken, add some nice veggies too - have a banana with your PB & J sandwich.
Hopefully bumping this will get you some more advice - oh also look at other peoples diaries for ideas - mines open - but I'm only on 1500 - I'd kill to eat more. Good luck.
Oh and well done on the weight loss - get your cals up and it will come flying off.0 -
Thank you for the advice. I'll have to add more things to each meal. Its been tough adjusting with my new work schedule. For the weekends its hard to track while chasing my little one around. I really appreciate the help though!0

I'm lucky in that I only have my cats to chase round
You'll be surprised how just adding a little more to each meal will make a difference - it soon adds up. When I'm working lots I often make a "base lunch" that will make several meals ie a pasta or rice salad - then each day I can just add a different protein to it. It makes life easier and doesn't feel like I'm eating the same meal each day.
ie pasta - with tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, broccoli etc. Then add tuna, turkey, ham, cheese etc.
I like to portion it into Tupperware boxes so in the morning I can just grab a box - throw in some protein and leave. I'm so not a morning person :grumble:0 -
My concern right now is that I like to eat a lot of chicken and tuna, but it skyrockets my protein. Then my protein is over what I'm supposed to eat. I used to cook all of my meals the night before, but I'm working 13 hour days now and by the time I get home I have no time now.0

Your protein actually looked a little low, what are your macros set at?
I'm at 40% cabs, 30% protein and 30% fat.0 -
I don't think I ever set them. I just told MFP what nutrients to track and I think it set them for me based on weight and goal weight0

I'd change them tbh - they set protein at 20% which I personally think is too low - esp if you are doing insanity. Might be worth going on the insanity board and seeing what people who are doing the program think.0

Found it, changed it to 20% for now. I'll check with Insanity Forums to see what they have marked down. I also finished my Food Diary on what I will have eaten by the time today is over. Look a little better?0

Much better - you still need more veggies though :laugh:0

I know, I don't have any on hand. I normally eat tons of veggies. I love fruits and vegetables!0
