I went to see that tour as well, my show was in Milwaukee NFG sounded pretty bad, though I think it was their equipment guys because everything was way distorted. Sugarcult sounded pretty great though. But yeah, Green Day take punk rock and put it in a stadium rock atmosphere, and the results are glorious.0 -

I have some serious love for rockabilly, especially Tiger Army. I love punk, post-punk, and some pop-punk!
I don't think anyone mentioned Hot Water Music, and they are incredible!

Haha, I can't argue too much with that. Though, it takes a lot more creativity to make a song good if you are limited in your musical capabilities like that0 -
I was into punk a loooong time ago..

Please. Danzig is and always was a little *itch. Michael Graves blew him away on talent.
He always thought he was bigger than the entire scene....and still does even after all these years. Refuses to do reunion shows or have anything to do with Jerry, Doyle, or Robo.0 -
Huge Dead Milkmen fan here!0

I'm one of the few also that like Keith Morris Black Flag better than Henry Rollins Black Flag.0

3 pages in and only 4 of you have mentioned Dropkick Murphys. TSK. TSK.
P.S. Punk is not just about the image. DKM has some pretty interesting instruments and melodies (Shipping Up To Boston, anyone?) and I don't think I could pick those guys out of a lineup. Have nearly all their records on vinyl but have only seen their faces once by chance when they were on Conan. You don't have to have to image to be a good punk band, they could be drag queens for all I know, they're still a punk band.0 -

DKM's have only been around since the mid 90's like '95 or '96 far I can remember. Most people are going to go back to the early days of punk rock or even Protopunk. Pioneer's like Paul Revere & The Raiders or The Stooges... a lot has to do with when people grew up. In the 70's I wasn't even 10 years old yet but knew of Iggy Pop from my brothers and sisters.
What people like in punk rock is no different with rock and roll... My parents would talk about Bill Haley or Elvis. My brothers and sisters would talk about Aerosmith, Queen or Pink Floyd. The same for alternative... the Violent Femmes don't have the same fan base as Nirvana or The Killers...0
