I'm new so forgive me if this question has already been posed and answered, but how are most people logging Beachbody workouts? I currently switch back and forth between P90X and Rev Abs (Doing phase 2 of Rev Abs now.)

What is the best way to log this, or how do I figure out my calories burned. Do most people have a way of calculating this, or is their any particular exercise in the database that people use as a substitute? Thanks for the help!

I use my FitBit on my workouts, so I can't give a definitive answer, but maybe circuit training for P90X??

The best way to track accurate calories burned is by wearing an HRM (Heart Rate Moniter) I use the Polar FT4 DAILY with my programs.
  • The best way is with a HRM with chest strap. Polar is very reputable. I have a ft40 and love it. If you don't have one, get one or start saving to get one when you can.

Short of that, you can use circuit training for p90x; alternatively there is a website p90xcalories.com that can be used. I can't help with the RevAbs; haven't used or know much about it.

It's really hard to guess and even when wearing a HRM it can differ from day to day depending on how your body is feeling on a particular day. I have logged the identical Insanity workouts with a different outcome since my heart rate may be higher on one day versus the other. I don't like guessing because I take my output in consideration when assessing my food intake. I love my HRM and they are not expensive. Just make sure and get one that count burned calories at a minimum. I have one that calculates fats burned as well. If you are interested in checking out HRM try this site. They have great comparisons and they are very service friendly. I hope this helps!

  • So once I have a HRM, how do I calculate calories? Is it maximum heart rate, average, etc...? Maybe I'll explore MFP. :)
