fat and depressed no longer!

Hi! I went through a horrible time in my 22nd year of life, and now that my birthday has come and gone, I'm trying to not blame some outside force for my weight gain and look internally at the real situation. Last year I fell in acid and recieved 3rd degree burns, got robbed by a crack head, and something so terrible, I don't even want to mention it on this forum.
So I'm fat. And unhappy. My boyfriend keeps pinching my stomach and asking me what happened, and frankly, I don't know. When everything started spiraling out of control, my need to eat and consume grew. It doesn't help working in a delicious cheese shop. So here I stand, ready and really willing to lose the weight as healthfully as possible. It is so hard to resist just eating everything in sight, but I'm not an 18 year old anymore, and I cannot treat myself this way.
I just need some help and friendly advice to aid along my 40 pounds weightloss goal. I want it so badly, I can taste it (hah).
Thanks for listening!

Welcome to MFP! This site is an excellent resource, the community and support is great and you will do great! I am sorry to hear about what has happened to you, making a change today is a big step though.
Ever since I started using MFP my number one priority has been getting healthy, and it gets easier with time. Some small suggestions I would have is drink LOTS of water, watch your sodium intake and your carbs. Once I started monitoring those closer I found the weight would come off easier. Make sure you split your calories up amongst meals and not use them in one large meal, snack on healthy things throughout the days.
There is tons of recipes here, good threads on snack suggestions, etc
Feel free to add me as a friend for encouragement!0 -
