Burning feet at bedtime?

I can't sleep as I'm completely freezing from the ankles up, but my feet are so hot they're burning - this is how I am every night about 9ish (an hour or so before I go to bed). I've tried keeping my feet out of the sheets and next to my air conditioning block, but its not helping much.
I'm just wondering if this is linked to diet at all, if anyone else has the same bother, and whether I should go to the doctors about it. Its really getting me down as I'm so tired constantly, and apparently we need sleep to lose weight
