Eating Back Carbs

Hi,

I know you are meant to eat back calories burnt off through exercise, but I've recently started lowering my carbs and am wondering if I need to up my level of carbs. Say I try to eat 100g a day in carbs, but when I exercise then the total I can have goes up. Do I eat these? I don't want to go too low but at the same time i don't want to work against losing weight by eating too many.

Sorry for such a noob question.

thanks :)

I don't eat back exercise calories at all. I eat 20% less than my BMR and allow my exercise calories to create the deficit where I lose weight.

Also, be aware that this site WAY overestimates calories burned on most exercises.

Not the answer you're looking for, but another way of doing things.

Carbs don't work against losing weight.

no. 100 g of carbs (from veggies and dairy) is plenty

Unless there is a medical reason you are trying to restrict carbs then go for it as long as you are getting enough protein and fats.

You can eat back the calories in the form of carbohydrates, fats, proteins... your choice. Make sure you're getting enough nutrition, but you can do that mostly in your first 1,200 calories. Then it's your choice what type of food you want to eat as far as weight loss goes. However, it might matter in light of your overall goals. Protein can help build or keep muscles; other choices you make may help keep your cravings or sense of not being deprived in balance. The nice thing about the exercise calories is that you can play around with them to see what works best for you.
