What should I get from this restaurant??

I'm thinking about going with some friends to Cheddar's this week, and I really want to choose a healthy option. So far I'm looking at these options...what do ya'll think?

1. A vegetable plate which comes with a salad and four sides (sides that I would consider are broccoli, coleslaw, baby carrots, corn, and green beans).
2. Grilled chicken pecan salad (chicken, mixed lettuce, pecans, carrots, tomato, and cheese)
3. Lemon Pepper Chicken
4. Dijon Chicken and Mushrooms (comes with a dijon sauce)
5. Grilled salmon, tilapia, or catfish
6. Key west chicken and shrimp (both are grilled with a pineapple pico de gallo)
7. 8 oz sirloin

So there are my options. Is there any that I should cut out? Or do you guys think any of these would be fine? The restaurant doesn't have any nutritional info on their food. Entrees 3-7 come with two sides and 3-6 also include rice.

Oh another option I have is Roasted Pear Spring Salad (roasted pears, toasted almonds, tomatoes, parmesan over spring mix with maple cider vinaigrette, and an option to add chicken).

Love Cheddar's, HATE HATE HATE that they don't publish nutritional info. All those options sound pretty good, watch the sauces and the cooking methods and to be safe, maybe take half home with you...I get the Napa Chicken Ciabatta and I always save half for later. Any restaurant can be a decent choice if you're careful.

We don't have Cheddar's here in California. Too bad that they won't publish the nutritional information. Let's have a look at the choices....

    1. A vegetable plate which comes with a salad and four sides (sides that I would consider are broccoli, coleslaw, baby carrots, corn, and green beans).
    2. Grilled chicken pecan salad (chicken, mixed lettuce, pecans, carrots, tomato, and cheese)

Entrees 3-7 come with two sides, and 3-6 also include rice.

    3. Lemon Pepper Chicken
    4. Dijon Chicken and Mushrooms (comes with a dijon sauce)
    5. Grilled salmon, tilapia, or catfish
    6. Key west chicken and shrimp (both are grilled with a pineapple pico de gallo)
    7. 8 oz sirloin
    8. Roasted Pear Spring Salad (roasted pears, toasted almonds, tomatoes, parmesan over spring mix with maple cider vinaigrette, and an option to add chicken).

    My views:

    1. A salad is a great choice. Most of it should be vegetable, but some lean meat chunks would be good for protein. Have a vinegar-based dressing instead of a cream-based one (fewer calories) and order it on the side.
    2. Grilled or baked beats out fried.
    3. Fish is a great choice (but go lightly with the tartar sauce).
    4. You don't mention what the choice of sides are, but steamed veggies are always a good choice.
    5. If it's a large entree (and most restaurants serve large portions), take half of it home. It will make a great lunch the next day.
  • try getting the tilapia without the rice substitue it for another vegetable but dont get the coleslaw that could be doused in heavy mayos and oils and defeats the purpose of eating healthy and get water instead of pop
