I was just diagnosed with Acid Reflux last week. I have to change my diet. Does anyone have any food advice or other ideas they would share with me?

Apparently milk & soda were big aggravators for me, even though milk made a flare up feel less painful. Once I gave up both, my acid reflux pretty much disappeared.0

I've had it for years. The most important thing I can say is don't eat much past 6 PM. The other thing is not to eat really large meals. After that different things bother different people. I can't drink whole milk any more, but I can use fat free in my coffee. If I eat spicy foods late at night or too much late at night, I have to sleep sitting up.
There are many good meds for it including some that are over the counter.

I was diagnosed with acid reflux in high school. It is so painful. Everyone is different and have different triggers the key is to find yours and avoid them. Mine are Milk, Red Meat, Spicy Food and Citrus. There are alot of websites you can look at to get a list of foods that aggravate acid reflux webmd.com is one. Mine is pretty much under control now just controlling it with my diet and my weightloss have really helped. Depending on how severe yours is you might try over the conter meds for flare ups.0

My husband had to give up tomatoes and orange juice. The orange juice bothered him the most.0

If you're anything like me, coffee and green tea (possibly regular tea, I don't drink it) will cause flare ups. Green tea is terrible, but I really enjoy it.0

On the coffee - I had forgotten that it bother me too. I had to switch to decaf as I just could not give it up. Cutting down on caffiene helped me a lot.

I've had it for years due to a hiatal hernia. I love, love, love spicy food and have found that it doesn't really bother me... neither does coffee, orange juice or any of the typical trigger foods. My problems come when I lay down too soon after eating, I lift something heavy too soon after eating, I exercise immediately after having something to eat, or I sit too long after having a large meal.0
