Grrr! I've been doing reaallly good all week burning mega calories and staying within my calorie intake limit then I go and totally blow it today. Weekends not so good since marriage Jan 09. I've lost 28lbs in the last 3yrs and only need 8 more to go.

Weekends suck! This is day 3 for me and I blew it! I was doing so good and trying to stay under my 1250 calories today, but I was starving about an hour ago. I made a big salad with cheese, chicken, etc. But I did measure out everything and record it. I've gone over about 750 calories for the day. I also didn't get much exercise today....had to take the husband to a class and wait and 5am and it's POURING rain here in SoCal. I am just telling myself that at least I didn't binge on sweets or junk food and will try to hit the gym for an hour or so in the morning before I have to start my chores for the day.

I did the same thing but my bf went to pick up taco bell and i had him get me some im like 700 calories over my limit!!But tomorrow WILL be better and imgoing to work out tomorrow too!!
  • Being a dude has such advantages. 2000 calories is pretty much my normal to lose weight. If I hit the gym on any given day, I still don't eat more so I actually have a hard time reaching the goal I need.

But hey, it happens to all of us. You just gotta accept it, then do better the next day. My guess is that you were no more than 600 calories over today, which is, by a numbers standpoint, a mere 17% of a lb of fat. So, it wont have any real effect on you as long as it's not continuous. Same goes for sollygirl and her taco bell. It happens.

And if you're truly hungry, I'd say it's better to go over by some calories and not to starve yourself. Your body needs food and fuel, and with the deficit built into MFP here, so you'd be losing a little less than normal that day, oh well. For the sake of being content, small price to pay, especially since I personally believe that stress is big factor in weight loss. If you're stressed out constantly about it, it'll be harder to lose. I forgot where I heard it but in general, keeping yourself as stress free as possible is healthy for your lifestyle.

Accept and then correct the next day. :) That's worked for me.

A high calorie day once in a while isn't a bad thing. Don't sweat it. :) I did the same today.
  • A day higher in calories every so often is actually a good thing. A constant low calorie diet will cause the dreaded "starvation response" from your body and it will be much more difficult to lose weight. So every so often when you have a bad day, don't worry about it, just get back on track. If your an emotional eater, the guilt of the bad day will just lead to more bad days. So don't feel guilty!

I feel your pain -- went to Mall of America yesterday, I just tallied my damage, and I went over by 852 calories... But we'd go nuts if we didn't fall off the wagon every once in a while!! It's the fact that it's so hard to stick to the diet that allows us to be so proud of what we accomplish, so just hop back on and you'll be fine. :)
