I had a baby back in October and my system still hasn't recovered, I need help getting fiber! I'm taking the benefiber chewables but the instructions make it sound like this isn't a daily supplement.

How do you get your fiber? What are some "high in fiber" healthy foods!

My standards are multi grain bread and apples. I will add dried appricots in the mix too.

Below is a link that may help you. It's a Mayo Clinic page that breaks down high fiber foods by type.

  • Fiber One cereals/bars/etc are high in fiber. The original cereal is RIDICULOUSLY high in fiber. Its not exactly *delicious* but its not hard to put down, either. Dump it into some yogurt to make it crunchy.

i'm actually eating a fiber one chocolate mocha bar now and it is delicious!
fair warning about fiber though: increase your intake gradually otherwise it does funny things to your tummy :blushing:

After multiple abdominal surgeries, I absolutely must get all of my fiber in or my body suffers. I eat multigrain bread, Fiber One products and once a day I do a meal replacement shake that has a high fiber content.

Here's a link for info on the shake and fiber supplement.

And make sure you drink enough water! Need to keep that fiber moving!
  • All Bran buds... great way of getting fiber into your system. They taste great and you can add them to many other foods or just eat them on their own with milk like cereal. I put them in yogurt and add them to other cereal. You can put them in smoothies or just about anything.

To all you FIBERONE users, there is another option with just as much fiber and HALF the sodium, if that is a priority for you. I am talking about the Kellogg's Fiber Plus bars.

Another one of my fav's are Orowheat Sandwich Thins. They come in Multi-grain or Whole Wheat, no high fructose corn syrup and a good source of fiber AND protein, and only 100 calories for an entire roll ( 50 cals ea slice)
  • I eat red river hot cereal 1 cup with 1/4 cup soy milk or raisin bran with soy milk this gives me a great start to a high fiber day also can't say enough about apples slice em up and go snack on them from one destination to the next . If I eat about 3cups of steamed california mix frozen veggies for supper along, along with all else eatin that day I usually go over in fiber

Papayas, prunes, dates, figs, pears, raspberries. I've heard mixed stories about bananas, but they seem to work for me. A lot of the dried fruits you can mix into your FiberOne cereal to add some sweetness, or bananas or dried fruits in oatmeal, which is high in fiber itself.
    Also, ...BEANS.

I get my fiber from my raisin bran cereal, my quaker weight control oatmeal, popcorn, spinach, bananas, apples. If you like raspberries (which I don't) those are high in fiber as well. Oh and beans too.

I have to keep a high fiber diet to help me go regular otherwise, I am in trouble.

My vote is for Fiber 1 Honey Clusters- it's delicious, and gives you over 50% of your daily fiber.
