Newbie - any tips?

Hi Im new to this I registered last year lost motivation and now im back! Im using the full website to its max!
Does anyone have any tips on weight loss, techniques and whta kinds of foods to be eating?
I am female, 22 weigh 85kg and am 5ft 2in. My doctor told me I was obese so I need to shift at least a stone by Christmas.

    1) Set your weight loss to .5 pounds a week (or at max, 1 pound a week). That 2 pounds/week might look tempting, but when you have a relatively small amount of weight to lose, setting too big of a deficit can do more harm than good...

    2) MFP, in most peoples' opinions, sets the default level of protein too low. You can go to Home -> Goals -> Change Goals -> Custom and edit the percentages. A lot of people recommend 40% carbs, 30% fat, and 30% protein as a good mix

    3) Do both strength and cardio! Don't be afraid to lift some weights, it is the most effective way to make you more healthy and lose body fat

    4) Don't be upset if things don't go well in the first week or two. Patience is key
