What's for lunch??

Hi MyFitnessPal friends!

Lunch at work - the most boring and sometimes difficult meal of the day. I am not a fan of microwave meals (and all of the sodium they tend to be packed with). And I am starting to get bored of my usual choices:

Some kind of sandwich (peanut butter or cheese and meat (no mayo))
Random fruit selection of the day
And my new obsession - Skinny Pop (39 calories per cup of popcorn, and it is delicious. I love the feeling of quantity eating for low calories)

What do you bring for lunch? I need some spice in my life. Also, I think yogurt is the worst thing in the entire world, so that's definitely not an option. :-)

    Hey Abbie,
I brought some leftover skinnytaste steak fajitas for lunch. I have a hard time with lunches since I don't really like sandwiches or your typical bagged lunch items so I am always looking for ideas!

I have been on a turkey sandwich kick and I pretty much eat the same thing for lunch every day. Turkey on honey grain whole wheat bread with a slice of habanero-jack cheese and avocado. OMG. I look forward to it every damn day, it tastes so good.

I have lots of snacks laying around - nuts, yogurt, etc. I will eat higher cal snacks if I plan on working out harder in the evenings.

For my workweek I typically prepare all breakfasts, snacks, and lunches for the week. Lunch is typically a lean meat or a chicken thigh occasionally(I usually don't have meat for breakfast and not so often for dinner), and two veggies. This week I made BBQ seasones chicken thighs with sweet peas and canned yams(rinsed and seasoned). I usually follow lunch up with fruit.

I had a grilled chicken wrap in a burrito (extra large) tortilla with provolone cheese, ranch dressing, and romaine lettuce. I also had Key lime Greek yogurt. And then finished my boy's lunch (same as mine) that he didn't eat....

    Over 800 delicious calories. :)

I have done several different things. I tend to go through phases and only have 1 thing then when I get tired, switch it up!

    - hormel compleats because they don't need to be in a freezer...a lil high in sodium for some (didn't affect me) but they have several types that are under 300 cal and filling

    - sandwiches , sara lee 45& delightful bread, turkey - around 150 cal for that...sometimes add cheese if my calories for the day allowed. Sometimes switch turkey for individual tuna cups that are 50/cup

    - smart ones mini pizza's, turkey bacon melt, or honey bbq chicken tortillas

    - Currently I have been having the Grean Giant Steamers - either rice & broccoli in cheese sauce or Mac & cheese with broccoli. They are each about 250 per bag!

I usuaaly have raw spinach And grilled chicken. On this lazy Sunday Im having a smoothie & some almonds.
  • I usually take leftovers from the night before, a salad or a sandwich!
  • I bring those microwavable meals to work with me pretty much every day. Even though they contain high sodium, i feel they're a quick and filling meal, as opposed to going out for lunch, which is a big PITA! But i should start making meals at home, and bring some of the leftovers to work.

Usually it's either leftovers, frozen lunches (I make chili, stews, soups, etc. in large batches and freeze), salads with chicken or shrimp, pork lettuce wraps, or home made summer rolls.

I like to make a big pan of zucchini lasagna. We can get several meals out of it. So yummy and low carb too.

I pretty much eat the exact same thing every workday for lunch: a chicken wrap. I use a whole wheat carb balance tortilla, 1/2 T of light creamy Caesar dressing, shredded lettuce, parmesan cheese, and oscar meyer rotisserie carving style chicken. I pair it with chips like natural cheetos, pop chips, pita chips, or reduced fat ruffles and often also have a tablespoon of Hellava Good black bean queso dip. I'm trying to get better about also including a veggie like cherub tomatos or petite carrots. I
  • a friend of mine sent this website to me and it looks to have some really yummy low fat foods.

I ate a personal size cheese pizza. I'm unintentionally trying the weight watchers approach of eating crap and justifying it by tracking the total so I eat a healthy caloric total with ****ty food.

Actually I'm just trying to ease the football season munchies. I have the urge to grab a bag of nacho cheese Doritos and eat the whole bag.
