Army basic training in one month...AND NERVOUS!

Though all advice will be appreciated, definitely hoping for some women's perspectives here, who have been to basic!!

I'm headed to Fort Sill on October 10th. I'm currently juuuuust at the max weight for my height, but regardless of weight I feel out of shape. My run time is good, but my situps and pushups are still below par. (I will be 27 when I ship out - run is at 18 min, pushups at 29, situps at 51)

What did you do to prepare physically? Is it as important and stressful as I'm making it out to be in my head?

For just the PT test you need to do pushups and situps. Do 3 1 minute sets 3 times per week. Start doing pushups on your toes and then drop to your knees and don't stop. The main thing for the pt test is technique. You need to do the pushups fast and use your arms to generate momentum up and down by throwing your arms back once you get up and forward to start going up. The additional momentum will reduce the amount your abs have to do. Don't worry with a little work anyone can pass. Plus your DIs will whip you into shape as well. Best of luck.

This is gonna sound like odd advice, but have fun! Once you get passed the drills being in your face, basic can be a blast.
