I have heard it is better for losing weight to do your daily work out before breakfast but it takes me a while to loosen up in the morning so how essential is this really?

Most of the theory behind this is that if you make exercise your first priority of the day, you will be less likely to find an excuse to skip it later on. Also, it sets the tone of the rest of the day, so if you start by making a healthy choice to work out, odds are you will continue to make healthy choices throughout the day. What type of work out you are planning on doing in the morning? Cardio is a great way to loosen up your muscles and your work outs should always include at least a 5 minute warm up period involving it. The best answer here though is that if you're looking to lose weight, just make sure you make time for exercise!

There is at least one study that I'm aware of that suggests there is a tiny (and I mean tiny) advantage to cardio in a fasted state. In practical terms there's no real advantage to one or the other (unless you're an endurance athlete and training for fat burning vs glycogen but for weight loss purposes this is irrelevant).

Exercise when it's convenient for you - you're more likely to stick to it. (Personally I prefer to run early in the morning, it's a great way to start the day but it's purely a personal preference.)

I have coffee only before my morning runs and eat afterwards. For me it is just preference, nothing more.

I've had quite a few people on my friends list talk about cardio in a fasted state. I'm curious about it, but haven't really looked into it much. I usually have a small snack in the morning to get me going, workout, then eat breakfast. I am curious to see what other people have to say about this though.
