Any kayakers here?

Just wondering how you calculate your calories- I paddle on flat water, no wind, at a slow pace, and only paddle about half the time , and coast the other half. I follow the shoreline of a small lake, and cross it a couple times. This takes me about an hour.

Should I only add up 30 minutes of that exercise, since I am on still water, and only actively paddling half the time?

PS if any one wants to chime in about windy days, as well as rivers vs lakes, that would be awesome, too as I do paddle rivers with no rapids.
