Which to follow Dr or MFP??

Hello all,
I joined my fitness pal in July and it recommended an 1800 calorie a day "budget", but my dr recommended around 1200-1300.
I checked my BMR using this link http://collegecookingandironchefamerica.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-weight-loss-technique.html that I found on another similar discussion/question (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/731024-i-need-help) It recommended the same as MFP did, I also check it using http://thefitgirls.com/tdee-calculator.aspx and that one recommended 2241 for BMR 3474 TDEE.
Since signing up I have been shooting for about 1400 calories. Currently I weight 230ish :ohwell: (embarrassing) and I'm shooting for smaller 10 lbs goals at the moment. I set my goals as losing 1lb per week. I jog/walk 3x a week and go for at least 1-2 bike rides a week.
Can someone help me with understanding what calorie range I should be following?
Any help is greatly appreciated! :flowerforyou:

MFP says 1800 a day and dr says about 1300 a day.
You set your goals at 1 pound a week. Doctor probably shooting for more weight loss a week given being 230 pounds. Setting the goal to 2 pounds a week would get you where your doctor suggests for you.
You are saying you do about 1400 a day, which is a little over 1.5 pounds loss per week given the data you have.
I would suggest you set MFP to 1.5 a week loss and stick with that if you can. It is the middle road. As you get closer to your goal weight, weight loss will have to be slower.0 -
Thank you! I made those changes and they did reflect a lower calorie count. Maybe that's why I haven't lost much.
Thanks again!0 -
Always go with the doc. If you don't trust their judgement, get a second opinion0
