Bad day.

Typically, I'm not one to whine, but today has been such a bad day. Since I started using MFP I have remained true to my 1200 calorie a day limit (give or take a few slips here and there, only by 10 calories or so). Today was a whole new beast though. I managed to hit nearly 1000 calories over and have felt like such a slug I didn't even work out. This is my first day falling "off the wagon" and I know I just have to get back up and start fresh tomorrow, but man I feel so guilty about today. I can't believe I let myself fall so far. Ugh - I better make it an early morning and get things back to good before the weekend. Thanks for listening, and feel free to add me; I could use some more motivational friends.

Also, anyone have a good suggestion on how to curb a day like today before it gets too out of control?0

Sorry you had a bad day. it's not only frustrating, it can be downright scary to feel out of control around food.
Could this maybe be a response to not eating enough? Based on your ticker, it seems as though you have 10 lbs to go. If that's accurate, you probably should have your goal set to lose .5lbs per week. You may want to check your settings.
If you are exercising, are you eating your exercise calories?
Not sure how to curb it without knowing what happened. Was it one bad meal, or a lot of snacks, or a binge?0 -
It was a full on binge, I am close to that special time of the month and just went crazy on giant chocolate chip cookies and fried chicken strips. I was seriously concerned for the safety of anyone who came near me.lol.
I have lost 10lbs in the last 40 days and only have 10 more to lose to be at my goal weight. Do you think I should adjust my settings? Maybe I'm not eating enough and no I haven't exercised in two days (which is where the spiral began I think).0 -
I think I would adjust them. I'm set on 1 lb per week and I'll adjust mine down to .5lb per week when I have 10 left. I also eat at least half my exercise calories back.
I'm not sure how to stop a binge in progress, but there are other folks here who are more familiar with binges who may have ideas. If right before your period is a 'danger zone' for you, maybe try to eat more frequently those few days or even just eat up to maintenance those few days. Eating more frequently might help keep your blood sugar more stable and prevent a binge, and knowing you can eat up to maintenance if you have to might reduce some of the anxiety.0 -
Thank you for the advice. I am going to search for binge topics and see if I can find some useful tips. How do you calculate your maintenance calories?0

When you really can't resist the urge to eat junk food, drink water. I like to add a little MIO to my drinks to give it some flavor. Try to drink it room temperature and it will help to make you feel full. Remember tomorrow is another day and vow to do better. We all have days like this.0

If you go to the MY HOME tab, click on Goals. There will be an entry called "Calories Burned From Normal Daily Activity". That's the number MFP is using as your maintenance calories.0

We all have bad days but like you said, just pick yourself back up and start fresh tomorrow. Don't beat yourself up about it. I am new, this week!!!, to this site and I love that there is so much support out there. I think that being women we are likely to have some of "those" day and we just have to let it go and get motivated by all the good days.0

Thanks everyone for the support. I'm going to get up early and do my workout and try to maintain my calories. I wish it weren't so stinking hard to look fabulous and feel healthy! LOL!0
