Cambodia

Firstly thank you for taking the time in reading this.

I am a big girl, but working my way down. I have been set a challenge b y my brother to cycle for 4 days in Cambodia, during the very hot and humid month of February.
I have 5 months to go from not having been on a bike for over 20 years to being able to ride for several hours per day. I am building it up and apart from a sore butt, I am loving it.
The ride has now been turned into a charity event so not only would I let myself down I would be letting down my patients and work colleagues. The charity I am collecting for is the clinic where I work.

If any of you have any advice for dealing with saddle sores arm and wrist ache please feel free to advise.

Also if you have a moment please pop onto my charity page at

Cambodia is amazing! I think seeing it by bike will be incredible! I've just started doing some cycling. Do you have cycling shorts and a good cycling jersey? The shorts will really help with the sore bum! Also check your wrist position. My hands kept falling asleep after 10km or so. I Google it and found out I should be keeping my wrists and arms in a straight line so that I don't pinch a nerve in my wrist. It is also helpful if you can get a cadence sensor for your bike. I try to keep my cadence between 80-90. This helps me to know when to switch gears.

    Have a great trip!

What a fantastic opportunity! Being an avid biker myself, bike shorts are a must! There are different types of riding gloves that can often make a difference with the wrists....check them out!

Good luck and have a fabulous ride!
