Under/at calories, over on other macronutrients?

So I was wondering if it is a bad thing to meet the caloric requirement, but end up being over on things like Protein, Fiber, and Sodium?

Carbs and Fat I know are better if kept at goal or lower and-

Sugar I have no issues with (no sweet tooth)

Comments?

Too much fat and sodium. A product of fast food. Start making your own meals to fix the problems.

Being over on protein is fine. If you still have default settings on then mfp sets protein low!

I always go over on protein. That's the only one I go over on but I don't really get cravings for sugary things or carbs. Protein though, is a big one.

Thanks all. How do I set protein higher in mfp? And I know I need to start modifying my diet from processed, hence the beginning to track. I'm just curious if there are things on mfp that are ok to be over on. Protein sounds like it is one of them... fiber too?

And why is sodium so bad? Besides water retention I guess, what are the other reasons?

I am also almost always over on protein. I'm interested to know everyone else's opinions.

Being over on protein is fine. In fact, you can go into your goals (under the "advanced" settings) and up your % of protein to get more!

Being over on sodium is not as good. High sodium makes you retain water, among other things. The reason you're over by so much (and it is quite a bit, no offense!) is because you're eating a lot of processed fast food. If you were to make the things you're eating (panini's, burritos, egg sandwiches) rather than buying them fast food, you'd be much better off.

I know it's hard - it's so much easier to just buy from a drive through. :( But it really is a lot better for you. And cheaper!

Thanks, and I fully realize that my current diet as is is not optimal, but I just started so its going to be a little bit until I get groceries and get into a good routine. Logging the bad days is just as important as the good ones. I'm not trying to ask for evidence to support my issues with processed food, rather information on how to best look out for more issues in the future :) thanks for all the input.

I will have to look again in the settings, as I tried yesterday but must have missed it, because I do feel like the protein and fiber goals are a bit low for me.
