How long did it take you to lose inches?

I've been doing MFP for a few months, lost just over a stone (17lbs), very happy with that. However in all honestly the number on the scale bothers me way less than my physical size - I'd rather see the numbers on the measuring tape go down before the scales!

I'm about 1/5 of the way to my goal and the measurements have barely budged. Obviously they will eventually, logically they have to as I continue losing weight. For anyone who lost lbs before inches...how long did it take for the inches to shift? I'm just curious because so often I see measurements lauded as a silent indicator of weight loss yet despite the lbs loss the inches are still there.

I have lost inches with the pounds pretty consistently. This is my 6th week and the measurements have decreased consistently week by week.

I lost 20lbs before I saw/measured a noticeable difference. After that the inches just fell off! A lot of the weight lost at first is water weight! Keep pushing and stay positive! everyBODY is different, but I'd say you should start really noticing with the next 5-10lbs you lose! Along with measurements and weighing myself I keep a close eye on my body fat %.. for me it helps cause I strength train and I put on a lot of muscle!

About once a month I get a bf% reading, although off the top of my head I can't remember what the last one was. I am waiting for that first noticable difference with bated breath!

I know it can be real discouraging to work your *kitten* off feeling like you should have lost a ton of inches and realizing you'd lost a TOTAL of maybe 2 inches ALL OVER! BUT...if you keep with it you will LOSE those inches! I went from a size 18 jean to a size 4 in 4 months! It took almost 2 of those months just to hit a 14 and then BAM! I was dropping a pant size a week it seemed like!

I havn't noticed a big difference in the inches, and all my clothes still fit the same. Friends and family say they can tell I have lost weight. I'm not sure where the 16lbs came from. I suppose my face and feet because those are prety much the only places I didn't measure.

In time, things will start to come together; just stay focused and keep pushing forward.

How often are you weighing and measuring? I get discouraged if I do it more than once a week because I want to see results everyday for my hard work, and it just doesn't happen that way.

    Best of luck

I've had measurments go up (around my period), down (while weight stayed the same) and stay the same (while weight went down). It also probably depends on where you gain weight too. My waist came down way before my hips as that's where I had last put on weight - so it was the first to go.
