I have been looking at the eat more to weigh less pages a lot - intellectually they make complete sense, intuitively not so much. The last 3 weeks I have tried so hard to stick to eating above my BMR. It's not hard for me to eat ABOVE my BMR but it is soooo easy for me to eat way above my daily goal. I just know that I love to eat and there is no way I'm ever going to be able to stick to 1200cals and not start screaming and snapping at everyone. The thing is I also happen to be disabled and therefore unable to exercise so I wasn't sure EM2WL would work for me. Well, I'm happy to report 3 (fairly) solid weeks of eating above BMR and I've lost 4-5lbs. If you're interested my BMR is ~1600cals and I'm eating 1760cals.
Now I'm not going to say this way easy because it wasn't. I've had to do a lot of fiddling with what amount of calories I should be eating - I've been working on it off and on all summer. As for how I chose the calories I did the initial math to figure out my TDEE and my BMR (If you are interested in doing this, you can go to the eat more 2 weigh less group. The math is posted in the message boards). I'm (clearly) not in a coma but I'm less active than "sedentary" so just following the math to figure out my TDEE and subtracting 10-20% wasn't enough to figure out what a good amount of calories is for me. I picked somewhat randomly in between TDEE - 10% and my BMR and then adjusted 50-100lbs up and down until I found a daily calorie goal that was sufficient for me so I wasn't hungry all the time and not so much that I wasn't losing.
It's a struggle - I can easily eat way more than 1700 cals in a day. On the other hand, I will be losing nice and slow and I hope that will make it so my body is used to eating healthier/less calories so when I have reached my goal I won't gain it all back in 6 months. I just wanted to write to hopefully share with other people who are curious but aren't body builders that this plan can work. It just takes a little more effort than letting MFP figure it out for you! Best of luck :flowerforyou:
