Side stitch

I have been trying to run a little here and there and tonight I had the most painful side stitch. I couldn't catch my breath! I had only ran for about 7 minutes. I don't think I can run. I wanted to because I have seen numerous people drop weight pretty fast when they incorporated some running. Any one else have any ideas?

Did u just get out and run? I am not a runner at all and fear I will hate it if I do that. So I decided to try couch to 5k. It has you do interval training for 9 weeks but you can go at your own pace and repeat days/weeks if you want to. I just recently had my gall bladder removed and tried to get into c25k too soon and had some serious pain so I decided to hold off for one more week.
You can google it and read the schedule for it so you know what you are getting into but there are also apps for smartphones, etc that you can download. It will play music from your own playlist and will talk over the music to let you know when to walk or jog/run.0 -
I've recently started running and I am by no means a runner. What I've found works for me is I will alternate between running and a brisk walk, I started at running for 30 seconds and then walking for 30 seconds and I've slowly increased my running time while decreasing my walking time. I think this allows me to go longer and further than I would be able to otherwise. I find that by starting out this way I actually enjoy running a little more and watching my progress of how much further I am able to run at a time.0

Cure for a stitch is .... Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.0

I don't know if this really helps, but in the army when we ran....forever.....the platoon sergeants would tell us to lift our arms up above our head and breathe.
I don't remember ever getting side stitches so I don't know if it truly works or not. But they sure said it enough.
