And when I am not dieting, I am a boredom and a got nothing else better to do eater. I work midnights. I get up about 4 in the afternoon and I'm in bed by 9 am. I eat dinner at home, usually around six, go to work for midnight, and eat a large salad about 3 am. Then I force myself to eat during the night so I can get all my calories in. Right now it's 5 am. I'm full, and I have only eaten 700 calories today. I haven't hit 1,000 calories all week. This is new thing for me. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm mostly worried about my body going into starvation mode.

I really wouldn't worry too much about starvation mode, you will still be burning a lot of calories throughout the day and your weight loss just won't be as big when you don't eat under 1000-1200.
Your biological clock is backwards so your body is going to react differently to eating foods at different hours than how you grew up and later in life, I would suggest taking some nuts and seeds with you. They are high calorie, good fats, and just chuck it into your salad at work.

check you're not anaemic - this can kill your appetite (which tend to make you more anaemic and so you have a vicious circle).

I'm eating a portion controlled healthy dinner with lean meats and veggies. Then my work salad, but tonight it was a pita bread sandwich. Snacks are usually string cheese, a piece of fruit, sometimes popcorn, applesauce, special K cereal in skim milk. I never eat breakfast. I have never been a breakfast person anyway.

if you are having trouble getting enough calories and nutrition, add more calorie dense foods with high protein and/or good fats. When I am having trouble getting enough calories, as long as Im not high on fat for the day, I love a half adding a half an avocado to almost anything. One thing I notice a lot in people's diary, is that they keep both skim milk AND whole milk around, and on under-calorie days they go for the whole milk.

I think nuts were also mentioned, just a small portion of nuts can easily add 100-200 calories with protein and good fats. (but definitely look at serving size, those suckers add up fast!)

I used to have that problem with breakfast but eating breakfast is so important for losing weight. I can't eat until I've been up for a few hours so now I have a protein shake. On coffee mornings I actually just put some ice, coffee, and protein powder into a blender bottle and drink it like an iced mocha for breakfast.

And as someone else said - eat more calorie dense foods. Cheese is a good one, and it's decent for protein.

I would have something for breakfast if I were you. A slice of toast with PNB or a shake is 200 calories straight away.

Do you have a microwave at work? Take bolognaise or something to heat up? Or instead of a pitta, have a wrap or wholemeal bread. Add in some carbs for your dinner.

Also you said 'portion controlled' dinner - have a bigger dinner? It's not hard to eat more calories is you *want* to. :)
