Keeping the Focus

I am a busy working mom of two teens and find that I am good alllll day, but night is sometimes a challenge. My calories are usually used up by dinner and just need some focus when I get tired not to put anything else in my mouth....any suggestions?

  • I sometimes pre-log in all my meals (breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner) at the start of the day if I know what I am going to eat. For the most part I know breakfast, snacks and lunch since I usually pack those to take to work. With that and my exercise I then know how much wiggle room I have for dinner. And somedays I will even log in dinner ahead and hit the complete the entry for the day early. That makes me want to stick to it and not eat anything additional.

Hi! I am in the similarly-same boat. My children are now grown, but one still lives at home and I also inherited a niece. I work full time and also am carrying a part-time college load. I do well within the day I think because I have structure. I know when I can eat breakfast and lunch at the office. Dinner time comes and if I do not plan ahead, I mess up. One thing I found that has helped with the mindless night eating is to keep a bottle of water handy. I take a sip and think about why I want to go put something in my mouth. I take another sip, and it usually works in distracting me from mindless eating. Like the other poster commented, planning and posting out meals in advance will help, too. I look forwarding to reading other responses, because I could certainly benefit from the tips. Great question!
