P90X Question

I just finished day one of P90X, which I have tried before. I am really trying to focus on my nutrition to get the best results possible but I have a couple questions for you folks.
1. Push-ups NEVER seem to get easier for me! Is it like this for anyone else? This is more of a rant because it bothers me that I struggle with them. Hopefully on Day 90 I will be rocking it out. I don't go down to my knees but I usually can't do more than 10-12 of them.
2. Pull-ups. Any tips? I am using the chair right now and I want to at least be able to do a few unassisted on Day 90.
Thank you!

10-12 pushups is a good start!! Think about the number of sets you're doing. 10-12 regular, 10-12 military, 10-12 wide, 10-12 diamond, 10-12 incline, 10-12 dive bombers AND you're doing all of this twice!!! SO at a minimum you're doing 120 pushups!!! Still a pretty good checst pump...
As far as pull-ups, I have an issue also. They're not easy.!!! I simply use a heavy band and wrap it around the stair railing and it gives me a nice back work out.0 -

I an doing a 3rd round of P90x right now, I am 3 weeks in. The first 2 I did back to back, then took the summer off and just started up again!! I can do 12 push ups then I drop to my knees and to 8 more. I still can't do pull ups, I use bands. I am 53 though, even though I still hope to eventually be able to do pullups, it may never happen...haha! But the heavier bands work great, for the back work.0

I didn't watch Tony's tips, but here is what I did: Use the chair to help you up and then lift your foot slightly off the chair so you lower yourself with your full weight. Lower yourself slow and in control. My first week I did 13 unassisted (total) in the Legs and Back workout. This week (one week left before I finish), I am up to 42 total. That is a huge increase. Every time I run out of steam unassisted, I do at least two or three where I help myself up and then lower my full weight. It has helped a lot! Good luck!0

This is how I started with pull ups too.
On day 1 I was able to do around 10 full push ups and 1 unassisted chin up/reverse pull up and zero of the other types of pull ups.
By day 90 I was able to easily do 30 - 40 full push ups, about 10 unassisted reverse pull ups / chin ups, about 3 wide arm pull ups and around 5 close grip pull ups.
Today I can do an entire class that incorporates around 100 push ups on my feet and my all time high on pull ups now is 10 with 15 chin ups. If I was able to do it, you can do it too! My starting weight was 1550
