Is the p90x nutrition plan actually healthy?

If you don't know, phase 1 of the plan involves eating 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fat. This doesn't seem that bad, but i'm meant to be eating 1800 calories a day, and i find it almost impossible while also staying within my carb and fat limits, and i can't get close to my protein limits despite everything i eat having some form of protein i am. THis is also a day where the shopping came recently so i actually have food in the house, but what am i meant to do when that food runs out? I had difficulty eating 1500 calories, let alone 1800 calories. Any advice? ALso, some are calling the first phase a low-carb phase, wouldn't that lead to loss of muscle, and lack of energy? Also, why low fat, i thought fat was actually meant to be good for you...
Do you think it would negatively affect my P90x results if i just ate healthy, but didn't focus too much on the protein, carbs and fat? And do you have any advice for getting more calories, bearing in mind i don't eat nuts.
