I have Nike+ shoes and just discovered that I can use them to link to ipod for tracking my progress. Why didn't I figure this out sooner!? Duh!

Anyhow, does anyone else use this tool? How do you like it?

I LOVE nike plus! Thats that only way I track how far I go, I used it through training for a marathon and have found it very accurate, you may want to calibrate it on a track though which is really easy to do... you have to buy the receiver and sensor for your shoe, they are 30 dollars for both, totally worth it! Plus you can track your runs online... its a really cool tool.

  • I have one and like it, except that recently I found out it is about .45 short on all my runs. This might not be a lot when you are logging loads of miles but when you are just beginning, a mile is a big deal. I got very frustrated and mapped out my routes on "mapmyrun" and thats how I figured out the calibration was wrong.
I have since re-calibrated it 5 times, including on a track and it is still incorrect. Very frustrating. So now I map out my runs first and then add the difference to what the Nike Plus says...unfort I cannot change that on the Nike Plus website, so I am about 3 miles short of what I have really run on that.

Still I think that once I get it to work correctly, it will be great especially as I enjoy trail running, which is difficult to map on mapmyrun.

Which nike plus do you have? I ask because the one that is the wrist band is not as accurate, in fact there was a recall on the first ones that came out, and the ipod one should be pretty accurate so you might want to tell them, they will probably give you a new one.

  • Hi there,

I have the one in your shoe......bought it in Feb this year. I have sent a few emails to them, and they keep telling me to re-calibrate. My husband is going to try and figure out where I am going wrong this weekend. If that doesn't work ~ I will go to my local running store.

I do like it.....just sucks when I come home half dead 7 gasping for air, from my little jaunt around the hood & half my effort is missing. lol:-)

Yea maybe try re-calibrating it for 2 miles on the track, sometimes it helps if you go a little further than a mile... you might have to call them but thats annoying that its that far off... I run long distance and that would soo add up thats for sure! Good luck!
