Has anyone else had an issue with bad breath after changing their eating habits? My husband has mentioned it a couple of times over the course of several weeks. Yes, I brush my teeth (and tongue & roof of my mouth) a minimum of 2x daily, I use listerine zero in the mornings, floss, drink a minimum of 100 ounces of water a day, no soda, no coffee, I know I don't have a cavity because I just had my check up last week.
Any ideas?

Are you eating low carb? Sometimes in the early stage of that you get "ketosis" breath.

Some folks just have weird body chemistry with different foods. I would wonder if there is one specific thing you eat a lot of or have newly added that maybe just reacts with your body differently?????

No, not low carb, or I don't consider it low carb. I try to stay @ 40% of my total calorie intake. But I wondered about the ketosis thing. I've heard the term but maybe I should research a little more on it.

I haven't added anything new that I can think of. I've looked through my diary on the day he mentioned it this past week and I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

So I just looked up ketosis breath and found what you said about carbs but also about excess protein.
I've been trying very hard to get/keep my protein up.

    2. "Ammonia Breath" from Protein
When the body metabolizes protein, ammonia is produced. When people eat high-protein meals, there tends to be increased ammonia in their breath and/or urine. In large amounts, this can smell pretty bad.

Also, as you change your diet, the bacteria that live in your mouth will change, which can change your breath.

Totally unrelated to diet: Do you have any allergies? If you are congested, your breath can get pretty rank despite your best efforts to keep your mouth clean. I know my breath is pretty awful during high allergy season or if I have a cold. Late summer/early fall is hayfever season for many, so perhaps that's a consideration for you?
