I wouldn't know... I always eat my exercise calories because anything more than a 1000 calorie deficit can be really unhealthy.0
-
I usually eat some of them during the week at some point. I go by a weekly allowance rather than daily because some days I am hungrier than others - like the day after a lot of exercise!0
-
I just eat till I'm not hungry anymore. Most of the time I eat around 50-80% of what I burn.0
-
Nope. But I try to eat with my work outs in mind............meaning I make sure to have protein right after work outs and I chose foods that will be filling for long term.0
-
99 % of the time, I do NOT eat my Exercise cals back. Never hungry.0
-
I see no reason not to eat them back at some point during the week.. the deficit is already there before you exercise.0
-
Ditto! Drink tons of water all day and never really hungry.0
-
I never eat them back. Not even after a 1300cal burn. I'm not hungrier the day after than I was the day before :-)
What I am is : I have more thirst. So I guess I'm not hydrated enough the days that I work out...0 -
I don't usually eat them back. I make good choices and even with a 1200 calorie goal, I'm still not hungry. It's all about making good choices. That being said, I'll eat them back on days I can't seem to get full.0
-
I am sometimes! But, I also found that if I exercise over 500 cal, I have a hard time eating them all back. I try to keep my exercises to around 300 calories. I am more likely to be able to eat most of them back if I stay around that number.0
-
Only if I have a big cardio burn which is rare. I do eat more on heavy work out days (lifting)but don't log those exersises so I do eat back some.0
-
never have hopefully never will I dont even hit my goal daily I'm usually at least 100-200 calories below then minus calories burned usually 400-500 less my goal is 18500
-
the deficit is already there before you exercise.
This is how I feel. However, if I do feel ravenous and want a snack, as long as it's a healthy one, I don't stress over calories if I go over that day. I almost never feel hungry, though.0 -
Not any more hungry than normal. So no.
I rarely to never eat back my exercise calories I don't see the point.
If im being particularly greedy I'll use them, a big dinner at a restaurant or something. However, i don't eat out as much any longer so again: rarely to never on the eating back.0 -
Running suppresses my appetite in the short term and revs it up on the day after. That's why I eat at least half, if not more, of the calories I earn on run days on the non-run days that follow.0

Thanks for the input. My main exercise is swimming, more often than not in the sea or a loch so I think the processes are somewhat different to say strength training and the estimating of the calories is very much an estimate! So I will drink more and make sure I eat up to my 1500 calorie target and see how it goes!0
-
Only a portion. On most cardio days I burn 400-700 calories. There's no way Im eating back all those calories with healthy food... I feel like I eat all Day as it is!!0
-
In the beginning I used to eat some of them but now I don't. I figure it will just help me lose weight a little faster.0
-
I rarely eat any back. I will eat some if I am unusually hungry, maybe half. I plan my food pretty well each day and if I get enough protein I am not hungry.0
-
Hardly ever eat them back and if I do maybe only 5%-10% if I fill hungry. 98% of the time I don't tho0
-
It is starving if you're net is super low, like 300 calories. Thats not enough food for your BMR, body to use for basic functions.
I don't always eat all my exercise calories back, sometimes half of them. I just aim to have a net calorie of atleast 1,000.. usually ends up me eating 1,400-,600 total. I keep an eye on my net intake. Somedays I'm really hungry and eat all my exercise back, other days I don't feel that hungry....
Drink lots of water after working out! Stay hydrated.0 -
Even if I have 200 left over, am STARVING!! So the past week I have had 2-3 days of going over my calories and I have actually lost 0.8 lbs....so I need to eat more, prior to today I had plateaued for abotu 3 weeks my weight was just stuck. So fo me, personally yes I eat all of my exercise cals back and then some, i make healthy choices and I am back to losing again!0

The OP has 2.5 kg to lose. You would really have to eat them, or be hungry. Also, OP, set your goals to "Lose .5 lb a week" or whatever is the smallest goal given in kgs. You cannot afford to ignore exercise calories at your weight. These larger people posting here have different circumstances and body composition that would allow them to eat less of their exercise cals. I.e. lots of stored body fat to use as fuel.0

I never do, but then i was told it was "bad for you". Something about your body starving. ha!
The one day that I ate my exercise calories, I went up in weight...0 -

Major facepalm moment, sorry.0 -
No and no. Going by online calculators, I have nearly 60% BF at 244#, so I don't worry about eating back what I burn.
I have my calculations set up as TDEE - 20%.0 -
sometimes I do, but most the time I do not0

I don't eat my exercise calories back and I've not noticed any adverse effects. Like many others, I'm just not hungry. Thing is, I do eat what I like...and mostly what I like are fruits, veggies, skimmed milk, low fat cheeses...these things really fill me up. Once upon a time I used to eat a donut every single day and pizza was my BFF, along with lots of Coca-Cola, and I LOVED candy. I have a donut 'maybe' once a month now, and I find that a 'Baby Coke" (those little 7 oz. cans) give me my pop fix. I drink half at a time.
For snacks, I love Gerber Graduates lil' Crunchies...the cheese flavored ones taste as good as Cheetos and they are very low in calories.
Another special treat I concocted is a 50 calorie caramel flavored rice cake, topped with two teaspoons of vanilla ice cream...delicious and under 100 calories.
My point is, what I do eat is filling yet low in calories, so I'm rarely hungry, so nope, I don't eat my exercise calories back. I maintain my weight at 124 pounds and I really do what I do to keep my cholesterol and triglyceride numbers at a normal level. At one sorry time in my life, my cholesterol was 597 and my triglycerides were 888. I was a heart attack waiting to happen.0 -
I always eat them.0
