Low Calorie Buns, Focaccia and slider buns..
This recipe makes the softest low calorie bread I've ever had...
2 cups all purpose flour
1 TBSP. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup light margarine
1 cup (8 oz.) plain low-fat yogurt
1 tsp. honey or corn syrup
Directions
Combine first 4 ingredients in the mixer bowl and combine, add the margarine and mix until it is well blended.
Add remaining ingredients, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough over into a lightly floured surface and knead lightly 4 or 5 times.
The dough will be quite sticky so dust with a little bit extra flour until you can handle it easily.
Cut into 24 pieces and put on a lightly oiled cookie sheet.
Bake at 425 F for 6-8 Minutes, depending on if you flatten them out to make focaccia or slider buns..
They are 44 calories apiece

Looks really interesting, does it need the honey if you are making foccacia? Could it be left out?0
-
I'm guessing it could be left out...since there is no yeast to feed off the sugar...
I've made this with silouette flavoured yogurts as well...two pineapple, 1 mango, just the 35 calorie size...very delicious!0 -
bump! You have no idea how excited I am to play with this recipe - thanks!!!!0

This is amazing...I can't wait to try it out! Thanks!0

I may use agave nectar instead of corn syrup. Thanks for the recipe!0

I've also found out that if you just make twelve buns, they are the perfect size for a large burger!! At 88 Calories for the bun...even if you have one of those 300 calorie patty's that you can usually buy at Walmart/Superstore, it's still reasonable calorie-wise...even with all the trimmings!0

Had a few left over, so I cut them into slices, threw them back into the oven at 350F for 5 min a side and then topped them with red peppers, onions, mushrooms and serrano peppers..back into the oven for a couple minutes....turned out like crostini...crunchy...mmmmm.....0
