25.5lbs lost today! 5'7 female 196->170.5

Hello complete strangers!

As I have been selfishly eating up the success pics, I decided that now that I've hit the 25lb down mark, I'd share mine. I still have a lot of fat to lose and muscle to gain, but I'm so happy in this moment that I want the world to see me.

Quick blurb before I show the most horrifying pictures of my life... dun dun dun...

I am an ex-theatre student who had dreams of being a stun double. I dare say I excelled... until I destroyed my ankle and was left nearly bed-ridden (could only stand/walk/sit for minutes before the back pain made me cry) for almost a year. The story is pathetic, but basically I slipped on ice and tore the ligaments, broke chunks off two of the bones, screwed up my lower back and threw out my knee... this story makes me feel old and frail *cough*. I had a basically re-attachment and fishing surgery (meaning they fished around for bone fragments), but that only held for 4 months before my ankle snapped again... I'm currently existing with no ligaments on the outside of my right ankle, it's fun!

Fast forward 3 years...

On my 25th birthday I was living away from home in a small town in Manitoba Canada. Being over 30 hours away from home and broke, I hadn't seen my family in months. I snapped a picture with my cake to send to my mom, then another, then another... I couldn't believe how fat I looked. I have always been chubby and slightly overweight, but what the heck?! This issue weighted heavily on my brain for a few days before I got up the nerve to snap a picture of me nearly naked. I joined MPF immediately after. I couldn't keep going knowing that if i continued down the path I was taking, my ankle would be shot by 40.

April 3rd - Sept 9th!
Starting was tough.
I was a white sugar addict, now I'm down to about 2 teaspoons (in everything I eat) a day. This being said I eat fruit like its going out of style and no one could ever convince me that it's sugar is nearly as painful for the body as that white junk...
My ankle would pain and scream after only a couple minutes of any load bearing exercise ie walking, jumping jacks... you name it and I sucked at it. Currently I'm now working to do my first k5 in a matter of weeks. So crazy excited to be taking part in a runforyourlives race :D
It took me months to figure out my cals. Turns out I'm a monster at 1200 and an angel at 1500.
I don't eat red meats or most lactose containing things because of digestive issues, but everything else is good if I really really want it.

That being said, it's taken me 5 months to lose 25lbs and I am happier in every way than I could have ever been when I was fat, tired and sore. :D

Here's to the last, lets say 12lbs?! Sure, sounds good.. That's my first goal, but time will only tell if I like that weight or not.

    Big changes in your body! Good job! And you have had so much to overcome!
  • You look great! But what caught my attention is that we have the same body type, well atleast I think we do, big shoulders, hold most of our weight in our upper body, no hips! My pants sit right under my damn sides, forgive me if I'm totally off lol if just been looking for someone with similar issues, I'm at 150 now. Anyways with that, awesome job!!!

    You are one tough cookie! If I had an injury like that I'd probably ask them to pull the plug, hahahah (I'm a major wuss!)

    How inspiring! Congrats on your successes thus far.
