At 44 I got on medicine for high blood pressure and just 1 month ago I was put on type 2 oral meds. I'm watching carbs but the sugars are hard to monitor as I eat fresh fruit. What should I look for and what kind of snacks can I have?

Welcome
Eating fruit - Fruits high in fiber example pairing an apple with peanut butter or cheese. Fat and protein helps slow the absorption of sugar.
Snacks- nuts are good snacks but watch you portions b/c to many will make you fat.
Checkout a free online book I just finished reading http://www.diabetes-book.com/readit.shtml. Also check the library for books that may help you learn how to pair your foods for the least spike in blood sugar.
