Hey all on Thursday I underwent a hiatal hernia repair and a Nissen fundoplication which is where my stomach is wrapped around my esophagus like a hot dog bun. This is not a weight loss surgery by any means but it mimics one. My question is for any ladies/gents who've had gastric bypass or lap band or what I've had and what food went down easily. It's been since Thursday and I'm still having trouble getting food to go down without pain. Any suggestions? Any help/advice welcome at this point :) thanks!

I had wls 3 mo. ago. The doctors typically start you off post op on liquid for a week or two, then on to puree for a week or two then on to soft foods for a week or two and then on to regular foods. Every doctor has a different plan some bypass some stages and others last longer or shorter than the average. The majority have you drinking at least 64 oz of water a day as it is easy to become dehydrated and you really don't want that to happen. Then it's a protein first diet. For me there is not room for anything after protein so that is basically all I'm still eating at this point. To get in your protein you may want to drink protein shakes to start off with until you are able to get more in with food. You might also want to take a good daily multi vit as you won't be getting in enough food for a while to get your vitamins in.
