I haven't been going to gym regularly for about a week

Like the thread title said. I haven't been going to gym my usual 5-7 days a week for the past week and a half. I've gone maybe 3-4 days at the gym during that time, and I've been over on my calories a bit. Yet I've discovered I've lost nearly 8lbs.

Is it all muscle? Could I lose a lot of muscle that quickly?

    do not know ? but 8 pounds is a lot to lose in a week 1/2 hopefully it's fat and not muscle :)

    From what i have read and heard, when you are doing intense workouts, or even regular strenuous workouts, when you take a week or so off, its shocks your body again and tends to break a persons plateau, if they were dealing with one. Otherwise, your body is shedding the water it held onto to repair the work you normally make it do...

    Its recommended to take a break for a few days, every month or so, to do this!
