Thanks to those who noticed I hadn't been here in forever. It's greatly appreciated. I became really sick at the beginning of August, ended up with MRSA in my blood and became septic, my body was going into shock and my organs were beginning to shut down. Once I was stabilized, I was transferred from our local hospital to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH where it was discovered that I had gangrene in my left foot. I was so out of it I didn't see it, but apparently the bottom of my foot had turned completely yellow and my toes were turning black. The head of Orthopedic Surgery determined that the only way to save my life was to do a below the knee amputation of my left leg which I had done the afternoon of August 14.

I spent about a week in the hospital before being transferred to this rehab facility just up the street from where I live. I've been here 3 weeks as of this Tuesday. My recovery is going very well. When I arrived I could not get myself out of bed at all, but thanks to a lot of intense therapy I am doing more and more each day and just recently started walking (hoping) with the walker. The therapists tell me they've never seen an amputee progress as fast as I am. By the end of the month I will be fitted for my prosthetic leg and I'm super excited to learn to walk again.

I've continued to lose weight, although they are still fine tuning my diet here, but I work out twice each day in therapy which burns lots of calories. :-)

Blessings to you all!

Prayers for peace, strength, and health during this recovery process. :flowerforyou:

Adding: and I just noticed that you were still writing your friends inspiring messages while you were sick in August. I hope you've had a great support group with you over the past few weeks.

Bro: Do not know you, but I do know, as a retired RN, with MANY ortho issues, and a HX of MRSA, Staff, STREP, etc infections..you are super Blessed!
Your spirit is showing in your post.
Oh, Brother in Christ, I weep for your recent BKA, but,
know that where God has closed one door, He open's MANY in return.
May our Savior with His stripes, heal you mind and body..bring you closer to His heart, increase you knowledge in Him.
Know that every tear you have shed, is held in the palm of His hand, and your delightful spirit is a testament of Him in your life.
Forever Grateful of being given a second chance, to walk in His footsteps:
