Abs focus doing Insanity workout. Need more?

So I've only done the fit test and day 1, but I'm wondering if my abs will get a good workout with Insanity. I know there were a few ab exercises in Plyo, but really the cardio was the difficult part. I never really felt the burn in my abs. I've been doing some circuit training prior to Insanity that had some more intense ab work, and I'm afraid to lose my progress there.
Anyone have any suggestions? Should I just hold out for more workouts (I've clearly not seen many yet!) or plan to supplement with ab specific workouts. Any suggestions for ab routine supplements?
Thanks for your feedback.

i didn't find that my abs got much of a workout during Insanity (I finished the full program last weekend). If I were to do it over again, I'd probably try to fit 2-3 ab workouts into the week. there's an Insanity ab that you do once a week, but I'm not a fan of Shaun T's ab stuff, so I would suggest P90X Ab Ripper if you have that one. I find it to really burn my abs!
or learn to do what Shaun T calls "ladder sprints" (basically sprint on the spot 15sec rest 15sec, sprint 30/rest 15, sprint 45/rest 15, 60/15, 45/15, 30/15, 15/15)... that sucker killed my abs too from basically doing high knee sprints that much.
good luck with Insanity!0 -

I would say that you don't need direct ab work doing that program as almost all of the moves require you to engage your core.
Is there a reason you want direct isolation ab exercises? (These exercises will not help you lose belly for or get a six pack, they just strengthen your abs in a way they don't get used in the "real world")0 -

There are few exercises I really enjoy the burn from, but abs is one of them. So I basically just find it very satisfying to really work my abs hard. I've always had good success strengthening them when working out. I just sort of missed that feeling from the workout. It's not about belly fat (though I have some!) nor about a six pack (mine is just shy and won't come out!). Really it's just that Insanity worked my abs different than I've in my training until now, and I wanted to see if it's something I should continue to seek.
In summary, I think I'm addicted to the ab burn!0 -
Extra ab work is not needed with Insanity. If you must do something more, than substitute cardio abs with another routine. Just remember your abs need rest like any other muscle.0

I don't have P90X. Insanity is my first venture into exercise DVDs. I chose this over P90X because I have no equipment and no possible way to use any in my tiny apartment. I'm pushing it to do Insanity in my apartment, but I'm determined to make it work along with my regular visits to the gym to meet with my trainer.0 -
I'm open to any suggestions from others with experience. For now, I'll give the workout a chance without modification. But th need for burn may change my mind. ;-)0
