Wt Training or Jogging for reducing weight?

I want to lose weight. I just want to know which is better - weight training or jogging. I CANNOT do both, because on alternate days I am involved in serious stretching (my top priority).

With weight training you might not see the scale move as often but you will lose plenty of inches. With jogging you run the risk of burning muscle as well. At least that is my understanding.0

Calories deficit is all that is needed to lose weight. Resistance training is needed to retain muscle mass and not look like crap when you're done losing.0

Sorry, but the answer is both.0

How about 2 full body weight training days a week plus whatever days you have leftover to jog.0

Is that possible? only 2 days of wt training/wk and 2 days of jogging per week? Will that help? I was under the impression that you need at least 3 days per wk for seeing results.0 -
I dont see you progressing very far with jogging on 2 days a week. But if you are just looking at it from a cardio/calorie burn standpoint, then progress is irrelevant.
I do both. I am still puny weak so my weightlifting isnt much, but I run 3 days a week (right now, will build back up to 5 days after the ankle stops whingeing) and I "lift" weights 2 days a week. How does serious stretching interfere with working out? I stretch for 20 minutes after I run or weight lift. Oh and I do yoga 1x a week on Saturdays.0 -

Be careful with the stretching. What is "serious stretching"? Dependent upon the stretching you're doing, you could be doing more harm than good.0 -

Serious stretching (40 mins a day) interferes with other activities, because I am starved for time.0 -
If you HAD to choose between weights or cardio, I'd do weights. You lift and be strong and you can still do Met-Cons and get the benefits of cardio.0

Weight loss comes from what goes in (or what doesn't go in) your mouth. Fitness comes from exercise. The choice between weight lifting or running would depend on where your priorities lie. If cardiovascular health is more important to you then run, if your focus is on body composition then lift weights.
Is your schedule that tight you couldn't find a little extra time to do both on a regular basis on top of your stretching?0
